Acknowledgement of Country

We would like to acknowledge and pay our respect to the traditional custodians of the land,

The Wodi Wodi and Salt Water People of the Five Islands Dreaming.

We acknowledge the elders - past, present and future, who keep the stories, songs, traditions and Dreaming alive.

Our school sits under Mount Ousley, a significant Song Line that Aboriginal people continue to use to travel to the coast to exchange food, gifts and join ceremonies.

We are grateful for the bushland and bird life that surrounds Balgownie Public School and the community.

Our emblem, the magpie, teaches us about respect, responsibility and resilience and the importance of protecting our environment.

We remember this land is, was and always will be traditional Aboriginal land.
